Building Struck by Fire Demolished

After a fire, the building at the corner of Park and Elmwood Avenue is gone.

The building at 555 Park Ave. has been demolished after a severe fire Friday night.

The fire, which took firefighters more than two hours to extinguish, started on the third floor and quickly spread throughout the structure.

On Sunday, a crew demolished the building after it was deemed too unsafe to inhabit.

The property is owned by Michael Solomon, a Providence City Council member.

Along with multiple people who lost their home, two business units within the building are gone.
