Car Hits Pole on Elmwood Avenue Early Sunday

The 5:30 a.m. crash drew two cruisers, an ambulance and a fire truck.

A blue Nissan Altima four-door struck a telephone pole on Elmwood Avenue early Sunday morning, coming to rest on the sidewalk pointed at oncoming southbound traffic.

The car hit the pole outside  at about 5:30 a.m., scattering fragments of plastic and glass along the sidewalk and street before stopping pointed in the direction of Providence. The front passenger side of the vehicle was heavily damaged, and the windshield was shattered.

All emergency vehicles save one police cruiser had cleared the scene by about 5:45 a.m., and a tow truck picked up the car at about 5:50 a.m.

There was no immediate information on injuries from the crash.

Cranston Patch will update this story as more details become available.
