Cranston Cop Unhurt after Struck by Fleeing Clubber's Car

Police said a 27-year-old Warren man was thrown out of a nightclub and then drove off, striking an officer who was trying to stop him.

A 27-year-old Warren man is facing charges of felony assault with a dangerous weapon after striking Cranston Police Officer Salvador Sanchez with his car while fleeing Mardi Gras Multi Club early Saturday morning.

Sanchez, who was thrown over the hood of the car and landed on the roadway, was unhurt.

Police said Ralph Delullo, 27, of 20 Hanley Farm Road, Warren, was thrown out of the nightclub at around midnight by officers working a security detail assisting club staff.

Officers Matthew Davis and Sanchez attempted to stop Delullo as he started walking away. They approached his car as he was climbing inside and then Delullo sped off, striking Sanchez, police said.

Delullo fled the scene without stopping but was later located by Warwick Police on the Airport Connector in that city.
