Cranston Home to 137 Sex Offenders

Cranston is home to 137 high-level sex offenders, according to the latest state list. The tally includes sex offenders who live or work in town.

Rhode Island has three classification levels for sex offenders, with Level 3 representing the most severe offenders.

The names, addresses, and photos of Level 2 and Level 3 offenders are posted online by the state. The identities of Level 1 offenders are not publicized online.

Though Cranston's tally might seem incredibly high, much of it is due to the fact that Cranston is home to the state prison as well as Harrington Hall, a homeless shelter for men that is also the address for many offenders who are released from jail.
