Cranston Man Charged with DUI, Death Resulting, after Crash

A Cranston man crashed into a telephone pole in South Kingstown Saturday night, killing a 24-year-old female passenger, police said.

A 23-year-old Cranston man is facing charges of driving under the influence death resulting, for allegedly causing a crash Saturday night in South Kingstown.

Police said Zachary Kahan, 23, of Cranston, hit a utility pole on Moonstone Avenue near 11 p.m. Saturday night. Killed in the carsh was Tonya Chabot, 24, of Harrisville.

Chabot was a student at the Community College of Rhode Island. Kahan graduated from Rhode Island College.
