Cranston Man Charged with Rape, Assault

Police said Johan Machuca, 27, of 56 Waterman Ave., raped a woman and threatened to kill her.

A 27-year-old Cranston man is being held without bail after being charged with rape, felony domestic assault and failure to relinquish a telephone, Cranston Police said.

Johan Machuca, of 56 Waterman Ave., reportedly raped the woman in his apartment and then assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she called police, the Providence Journal reported.

The victim knew her attacker.

Machuca was arraigned on Tuesday and will return to court on Dec. 4 for a status conference and Jan. 29 for a prearraignment disposition conference, court records show.
