A Cranston man has died after a crash on Route 6 in Providence early Thursday Morning.

Providence Police said the victim, identified as Thomas Rao of Cranston, crashed into a guardrail on an exit ramp in downtown Providence, possibly after a medical issue.

The crash happened around 12:20 a.m.

Police said Roa was heading east on Route 6 and took the downtown Providence ramp when he drifted out of the travel lane and hit the guardrail.

Roa was trapped inside his car when first responders arrived. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
