The Cranston woman who claimed that a man dressed as Santa walked into the East Providence Yacht Club where she was bartending, pulled out a shotgun and held her up for $3,000 cash, will be heading to trial.
Christal Johnson, 39, of Cranston, was eventually charged with stealing the money and making up the story about Santa in an effort to cover up the crime.
Johnson, who had been on the job for three days, reportedly faced a judge for a hearing on her charges and rejected three plea deals that offered her a chance to pay restitution or serve probation. But she chose to go to trial.
If found guilty, she could face up to 20 years in jail for the embezzlement charge and 1 year for falsely reporting a crime.
She is due to return to court in May.
