UPDATED: Cranston Woman Killed in Foxboro Car Crash

A 24-year-old Cranston woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 24-year-old Cranston woman was pronounced dead after an early Sunday morning car accident on Route 95 Southbound in Foxboro.

The woman killed was identified by police as Phoenix C. Smith.

Massachusetts State Police said in a statement that they are investigating the single-car crash, which took place at approximately 5:21 a.m. near Exit 6B.

According to the statement:

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Michael Bartucca indicates that a 2005 Kia Sorento was operating on Route 95 southbound when the operator lost control, struck the guardrail at the breakdown lane and went into the woodline. The operator was trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
