Help Wanted: Police Chief

Cranston Police has posted the job opening for police chief.

The city has officially posted a help wanted ad for a new police chief.

To qualify, you must have a bachelor's degree and at least three years of time as a captain or higher rank in an accredited police department of equivalent size.

In Cranston, the new police chief will be in charge of 153 sworn members with two majors, 6 captains, 8 lieutenants, 19 sergeants and 117 officers.

The Cranston Police Department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

Resumes will be accepted from applicants in Rhode Island, southeastern Massachusetts and Connecticut. Rhode Island residency is required at time of appointment.

The pay? $100,000 per year.

Resumes, writing samples and references must be submitted to the Dept. of Personnel at City Hall, 869 Park Ave., Cranston RI 02910 no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16.
