Last Week in Shoplifting: Sketchers, Pajamas, Tights and Knee Highs

Police charged Ginesi Australia Garcia, 38, of 221 Farmington Ave., Cranston, with shoplifting and habitual shoplifting Nov. 8 after she allegedly walked out of the Plainfield Pike Walmart with $378 worth of merchandise without paying.

On Nov. 11, police charged Dawn Diane Dexter, 39, of 95 Birch St., Warwick, with shoplifting after she reportedly concealed a pair of Sketchers in her pants at Bob’s Stores on Oaklawn Avenue and tried to leave the store without paying.

Police said the shoes were valued at $49.99.

Police charged John Lambert, 48, of 30 Howard Ave., Cranston, with shoplifting Nov. 11 after he reportedly took $14.64 worth of groceries from the Aldi Market on Pontiac Avenue.

Police responded to a call of a male shoplifter around 4 p.m. and a few minutes later, found Lambert walking down the street carrying bags containing items described by the Aldi store manager.

Responding officers soon discovered that Lambert was also carrying a pair of nail clippers he admitted stealing from the CVS on Pontiac Avenue. The clippers were returned to the store but no charges were filed for that theft because the store manager said nobody saw him steal them.

On Nov. 11, Cranston Police charged Patrick Hollywood, 48, of 23 Princeton Ave., Warwick, with shoplifting and weapons law violations after he tried to steal $264 worth of Bluetooth headsets from the Plainfield Pike Walmart.

Police said a loss prevention officer saw Hollywood take the headsets and go into the bathroom for an extended period of time. When he came out, he was approached by the loss prevention officer. Hollywood then reportedly ventured back into the store and emptied his pockets of the merchandise which he apparently had cut out of the packaging using a boxcutter or knife.

By the time police arrived, Hollywood had been detained and was waiting in the loss prevention office to be taken into police custody.

Police said Hollywood was carrying a large Gerber jackknife with a 3.75 inch blade, another jackknife with a 3-inch blade and a small folding box cutter with a half-inch blade.

On Nov. 13, police charged Darcie Arnold, 32, of 3 Lyndale Ave., Warwick, with shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to steal a sweater, pajamas, tights and knee high socks worth $87.96 from Bob’s Stores on Oaklawn Ave.

Police said Arnold concealed the items in the lower portion of a baby carriage and walked out of the store with a child without paying.
