Miss Universe Street Signs Stolen Night after Dedication

The signs were stolen the night after they were dedicated in honor of Cranston native Olivia Culpo.

Cranston Police are looking for someone who stole three street signs from Albert Avenue bearing the name of Miss Universe — Cranston native Olivia Culpo — the same night the signs were dedicated at a City Hall ceremony in her honor.

Cranston Police Major Robert W. Ryan said a neighbor noticed the signs were missing on Sunday morning. They sent a text to the Culpo family who then called police.

The neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, told police that they heard what sounded like teenagers on the street at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Loud voices were heard "but it is unknown if this is related to the thefts," Ryan said.

A total of three signs were taken from the intersections of Albert Avenue, Narragansett Boulevard, Pawtuxet Avenue and Broad Street.

The Saturday ceremony featured Culpo, her boyfriend Nick Jonas and a large delegation of local and state officials, including both of the state's congressmen in addition to Culpo's close friends and family.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cranston Police at 401-942-2211
