Cranston Man Charged with Third DUI in North Kingstown

A 59-year-old Cranston man is facing his third driving under the influence charge after North Kingstown police arrested him after he reportedly was driving on a flat tire while drinking from an open beer.

North Kingstown Police charged Ronald George Brown, 59, of 22 Crothers Ave, Cranston, with driving under the influence, refusing a chemical test and driving with a suspended license at around 10:20 p.m. on April 23 after a caller reported he was driving on a flat tire.

By the time police arrived, Brown was reportedly outside of his car and "stumbling around," according to a police report and he said to police "I'm all set, AAA is going to give me a ride."

Police said Brown then became argumentative and refused a field sobriety test. He was promptly arrested and a search of his car turned up receipts from earlier in that night from two drinking establishments as well as an open can of Bud Light Platinum in the driver's side door.

Police also noted they found about 20 empty "nip" sized bottles of UV vodka on the driver and front passenger floor along with an unsealed bottle of liquor with some alcohol still inside.

Police said it was Brown's third DUI offense within the last five years.
