Police Continue Search For Second Suspect of Saturday Robberies

Police arrested the first of two robbery suspects Saturday morning, but continue to search for the second.

Cranston Police, along with Rhode Island State Police, Coventry Police, Warwick Police and West Greenwich Police are attempting to locate the second of two suspects who allegedly robbed the Shell gas station on Pontiac Avenue in Cranston at approximately 12:40 a.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, responding officers saw a car speeding away from the scene and began to pursue it on I-95 north, but eventually lost sight lost sight of the vehicle. It was later found empty at near the Route 117 off ramp in Warwick.

The pair reportedly committed the same crime just an hour later at the Xtra Mart convenience store on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry.

According to police, the first suspect was arrested shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday at the Dunkin Donuts at Centerville and Bald Hill roads in Warwick, but his identity has not yet been released.

The second suspect remains at large and is described by police as approximately 5'10 and wearing a black North Face jacket, light brown or gray pants and brown shoes.

Officials say he may still be armed and ask anyone who may see any him to only observe and call 9-1-1, do not approach.
