Police ID Motorcycle Crash Victim

Cranston Police have identified the man who died after he crashed his motorcycle on Pontiac Avenue Thursday afternoon as 33-year-old Jason Wilcox of West Warwick.

Wilcox was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said, but his rate of speed was a "contributing factor to the incident," said Cranston Police Major Robert W. Ryan.

Police said Wilcox was driving quickly while heading north on Pontiac Avenue when he his the curb on the east side of the road and lost control of the bike.

Once he lost control, the motorcycle slid along the sidewalk. Wilcox was separated from the bike when he hit the utility pole, which caused the fatal head injury.

The motorcycle came to a stop in a grassy area east of Pontiac Avenue.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
