Police ID Suspect in Ocean Mart Armed Robbery

Montrell Hopper, 19, is considered armed and dangerous.

Cranston Police have identified the suspect in a brazen armed robbery at Ocean State Market on Dyer Avenue on Tuesday.

Police are looking for Montrell Hopper, 19, of Providence.

Hopper is wanted on two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence and carrying a weapon without a permit.

Police said Hopper, who allegedly hopped over the counter at Ocean State Market while brandishing a handgun during the robbery, is also wanted by Providence Police on first-degree robbery charges.

Police said Hopper made off with an undetermined amount of cash, a few packs of Newport cigarettes and was carrying a red gym bag, otherwise known as a "sling bag."

Hopper is described as a black male with slim build standing between 5 feet 7 and 8 inches tall.

He had a light colored mask, jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and black and white sneakers.

Hopper reportedly tried to rob a customer in the store as well, but he was unsuccessful.

Police said Hopper took off running towards Farmington Avenue.
