Updated: Police Looking for Sex Offender

Cranston Police have reportedly taken Demers into custody. He was arrested in Cranston on Dec. 10.

The Cranston Police Department is looking for a 43-year-old registered sex offender who hasn't registered his address with police and whose whereabouts have been unknown since Dec. 4.

Police said Kirk Demers had been staying at the Rhode Island Urban League Shelter at 208 Prairie Ave. in Providence and previously was at the Harrington Hall homeless shelter in Cranston from Nov. 9 to Dec. 4. During that time, Demers did not register with the Cranston Police Department.

Demers is a white male standing about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He has brownish hair and eyes, police said.

Demers was convicted of first degree sexual assault. The victim was a 14-year-old female.
