Police Searching for Bank Robber

Police said the suspect entered the BankRI on Plainfield Pike shortly before closing time this afternoon and placed an explosive device or facsimile on the counter and demanded money.

Cranston Police are searching for a man who robbed the BankRI at 2104 Plainfield Pike shortly before 6 p.m. tonight.

Police said the male suspect, who stands at approximately 6 feet tall with average build and salt and pepper hair placed an explosive device or facsimile on the counter and demanded money. He used a black duffel bag with an unidentified logo on the front.

The suspect was wearing dark shoes, blue jeans, a black crew neck shirt, a waist length brown leather coat and eyeglasses.

The suspect fled from the bank in a late 1990s or early 2000s four door silver sedan believed to be a Toyota Camry and was last seen heading west on Plainfield Pike.

Anyone with any information or who can identify the suspect is asked to call Cranston Police at 401-942-2211. Police said callers can remain anonymous, if desired.
