The report says nothing… she has a broken shoulder, a broken leg, 2 black and swollen eyes from where this punk punched her face in and a broken nose.

God bless the person who trys to steal my wife's pocketbook....he'll need the rescue squad for sure. Hope the victim gets better.

As a male with no purse, I do not get why any woman needs a purse at all. If men can do with wallets in their front pocket(to prevent pick pocketing) why can't women? What the heck is inside one of those big bags, anyway? (Makeup and tissues?}

The police did not release this information.

The victim's condition was not released by police. I can only report what the police release. Additionally, this came in on a Saturday and I am out of town until Sunday afternoon.

This makes a lot of sense. NOW I know why they have private security patrolling the parking lot. Notice this starting Friday.

Bottom line is that the people that make up Rhode island (the smallest but most destructive state in the country) need to wake up and realize that this state is quickly being taken over. Unfortunately there seems to be escalating violence growing and it is not just in providence. I have personally been told by a providence e.m.t. that gang violence is so high right now in this state that he advised me to "stay out of Providence." I have a feeling that these stories of selfish violence and crime will continue to get worse. There also seems to be steaming from drug addiction. Which is usually controlled by who?

@tvnutt yes they have white vechicles with green lights there...security on site. Maybe S &S should hire the Cranston Police for a few details.

Stop and Shop on Atwood Ave does not have private security. That is the Stop and Shop on Garfield Ave near the police station that has it for the plaza.

The violence and theft is going to continue to get worse until unemployment rate is dropped. People are getting bored and worse desperate... We are the smallest state and should be able to turn our fiscal and job situation around quicker than any other state in the country... It is very sad to see that other places are starting to get back on track while we sit and wait for the sad bunch of elected officials to do something...
