The convicted rapist named as a person of interest in connection with the discovery of a young woman's body in a garage behind a Farmington Avenue house last week is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions as a bail violator.
James A. Adams was charged with assault.
Court records show that Adams, 31, last known to live in Warwick, is accused of pointing a gun at a woman at 391 Farmington Ave. on June 30. That's the same address where the unidentified woman's body was found.
The Providence Journal reported that prosecutor John Krollman said the victim, identified as Jessica Lynn Dyer, was injured as she got away from Adams.
Adams is on probation for a rape and assault charge from 2005 stemming from an incident during which he raped an acquaintance at knife point. He was sentenced in 2007 to 20 years, 7 to serve after pleading no contest to the charges.
Cranston Police have released few details about the case and the woman who was found dead in the garage has still not been identified.
