Subway Stabbing Suspect Arrested

Cranston Police arrested a 21-year-old Providence man in connection with a Friday stabbing incident at Subway on Narragansett Boulevard.

Cranston Police arrested a 21-year-old Providence man in connection with a Friday stabbing incident at Subway on Narragansett Boulevard.

Police said they charged Jovan Byrd with one count of felony assault and a count of disorderly conduct after police obtained a warrant following an investigation about an altercation at the restaurant around 9:20 p.m.

Police said they responded to the Subway after a report of an altercation between several people involving a knife. 

Police found a man who had been assaulted and suffered unspecified injuries along with a woman identified as Diana Oliveira, 22, of Pawtucket, who was charged with disorderly conduct, simple assault, obstruction of justice and marijuana possession.

Bryd was identified as a suspect after further investigation.

Byrd was located in Providence and taken into custody without incident.

He is due to be arraigned in Providence District Court on Monday.
