Suspect in Robberies, Police Chase, Indicted by Statewide Grand Jury

The man who robbed two stores with a juvenile accomplice and led police on a multi-town chase that ended in a crash on Interstate 95 in January has been indicted.

A man who led police on a high speed chase after robbing convenience stores in Cranston and Coventry with a juvenile in January was indicted by the Statewide Grand Jury today on first- and second-degree robbery, eluding police and firearms charges.

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin said Monchi Castillo-Cosme, 23, of Springfield, Mass., was arrested the day after he and the juvenile robbed the Pontiac Avenue Shell and later, a the X-Tra Mart on Tiogue Avenue in Coventry.

Police said Castillo-Cosme and the juvenile, who has not been indicted, walked into the Shell station at around 12:40 a.m. armed with handguns.

An hour later, two men matching their description hit the X-Tra Mart. Coventry and West Greenwich police soon were in pursuit of a car matching the description of their getaway vehicle. The chase ended when the State Police saw them crash on the exit ramp to Route 117 off Route 95 in Warwick.

Both subjects fled, leaving one handgun in the car. The juvenile was apprehended a short time later at a nearby Dunkin' Donuts.

All told, Castillo-Cosme is facing charge of first- and second-degree robbery, two counts of conspiracy, eluding police and one count of using a firearm while committing a crime of violence.

Castillo-Cosme will appear in Providence County Superior Court on April 25 for arraignment. He has been held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

Bigoted Delusions of Grandeur. Did your wife cheat with an Italian? Is that where all the hostility comes from? Back to your miserable life, troll.

Though I am not one bit Italiano I do speak the language having had to learn that , Latin and many others along the course of my life due to my work . I also know an aweful lot about immigration laws and those who break those laws . Though you are probably an anchor baby I'd be concerned as some day this country just might follow immigration laws to the letter of the law . Luckily I don't live in a place that stinks of your kind as I know better lol .
