Third Man Charged in Alex and Ani Thefts

Rhode Island State Police charged a third man in connection with the theft of unfinished Alex and Ani bracelets from the assembly line.

Another man has been charged with felony larceny for allegedly stealing Alex and Ani bracelets during the manufacturing process at a Cranston plating company.

Col. Steven G. O'Donnell, superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police, today announced that Paul Winfield, 34, of 51 Barstow St., Providence, was charged with larceny over $5,000 after state police detectives received information from Cinerama Jewelry that Winfield was stealing the bracelets during the manufacturing process.

Detectives "investigated further," O'Donnell said, resulting in Winfield's arrest. He was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace at the Lincoln Barracks and bail was set at $10,000 personal recognizance.

The arrest comes on the heels of two prior arrests last week of men who allegedly stole Alex and Ani bracelets from Cinerama. Cops were able to track down the men after they responded to a craigslist ad that offered bracelets that had not yet been released to the public.

Cinerama has estimated to have lost about $5,000 so far.
