Thousands Still Without Power In Tiverton and Little Compton

More than 3,000 Tiverton and Little Compton residents are still without power in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

The sun is shining on Tuesday morning, but scattered limbs and widespread power outages are a reminder are all that remain of Hurricane Sandy.

According to National Grid's website, thousands of employees are on the ground working to restore power as quickly as possible on Tuesday with hundreds more of being supplemented from crews in Canada and across the US.

for three or four days.

Although calls to National Grid's media relations team were not returned, the state Department of Transportation issued a press release this morning stating that road clearing and outage restoration efforts had resumed on Tuesday.

According to National Grid's outage map, about 25 percent of customers in Tiverton and Little Compton are still without power. Little Compton residents have been without electricity since 11:45 a.m. on Monday and some Tiverton residents have been without power since 1:45 p.m.

According to Tiverton Fire Chief Robert Lloyd, outages were scattered across town yesterday as a result of numerous downed tree limbs and poles that took out wires and trapped a fire engine on South Lake Road last night. A transformer fire off of Crandall Road cut power to residents early on Monday and affected customers all the way into Little Compton.

Are you still without power? When did yours go out?

Still without power, and slept poorly because of the neighbor's roaring generator. Signed, Grumpy

Joe-Don't foirget, a generator also provides power to a computer, so you can receive timely updates from your TCC puppet string pullers Lord Nelson and Prince Robbie. Now get your bikerhd1998 over to Lawton Ave. and start cleaning up those downed tree branches.

Who would leave there generator running at night? The frig. will be fine for 8 hours or so without power. It's a waste of gas to run a generator at night. Maybe they need a night light because of the boggy man? LOL. Or maybe you peed them off at one time? Or maybe there dumb as a stump? Sorry to hear that Tivie or Grumpy. You should get one for the next storm, because there will be another! You can put it right next to there bedroom window. Or you could go plug a cord in there's at night when there in bed with there night light on? Good luck and sleep well. I hope everyone has power soon.
