Two Recruits Join Cranston PD

Both start work on Tuesday.

Two new members have joined the ranks of the Cranston Police Department.

Officer Daniel Jimenez-Garcia, of Providence; and Russell C. Henry III, of Cranston, recently graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy on Friday and were sworn in later that day by Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung at City Hall.

"I am proud to have these two new officers join our fine department so that they may begin their law enforcement careers on behalf of the residents of Cranston," Fung said. "With their additions [to the department,] I know the department has an even brighter future ahead."

Jimenez-Garcia recited the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics on behalf of his recruit class during the graduation ceremonies, stating: "I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of police service."

Henry was presented with his badge from his father, Lt. Russel C. Henry Jr., a distinguished veteran of the Cranston Police Department.

Both officers start their first shifts on Tuesday.
