City, Teamsters Local 251 Reach Tentative Contract Deal

Raises, increased medical cost sharing, changes to overtime and pension contributions highlight the new contract.

The city and the Teamsters Local 251 have reached a tentative deal on a new contract that will run through 2015 and gives municipal workers raises each year.

The contract also increases medical cost sharing, saving the city an estimated $44,000 over the contract term and adds provisions for domestic partners, trims some benefits for new hires and increases pension contributions on both sides.

The contract will give the union members, consisting of police dispatchers and city workers, a 1.5 percent raise in 2012 and 2.5 percent raises in 2013 and 2014.

The City Council's Finance Committee subcommittee is expected to vote on the contract on Thursday.

The new contract (see attached) will cost the city an additional $460,000.
