Fung Gets Cranston GOP Endorsement

The Cranston Republican City Committee last night heard from both Republican gubernatorial candidates — Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung and Ken Block — and ultimately voted to endorse Fung.

Block outlined a plan to eliminate waste and fraud in state government that he says will save a billion dollars and help improve the state's business climate, the Providence Journal reported.

Fung highlighted his record in Cranston and said he wants to improve the state's finances and create jobs like he did in Cranston.

Cranston GOP Chairman Nick Lima told the Journal that committee members wanted a candidate who is "involved with 'party building' and willing to lead 'not just . . .by themselves' but as the leader of "a team.'"
