Libraries Hire New Digital Librarian

Juile Holden comes to Cranston after working at the Pawtucket Public Library since 1999.

The Cranston Public Library announced that Julie Holden has been appointed its new information services and emerging technologies librarian. 

Holden previously worked at the Pawtucket Public Library, where she served as a Reference Librarian since 1999. In her new position, she will be responsible for teaching Digital Literacy/Internet Basics courses, instruction on the use of eReaders/eBooks and other technology programs. 

She is the current chair of the Ocean State Libraries consortium E-Zone committee which oversees eBook services for all public libraries in Rhode Island and recently served as a member of the Ocean State Libraries Strategic Planning Committee.

"Julie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Cranston. She is one of the acknowledged Rhode Island Library experts on eBooks and will be a valuable asset to the Cranston Public Library system as library services continue to shift to the digital medium", said library director Edward Garcia.
