Mayor: Take the Storm Seriously

Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung said Cranston residents need to take the storm seriously and prepare accordingly.

As the city braces for what could be biggest snowstorm to hit the area in recent memory, Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung is urging residents to take the storm seriously and "prepare accordingly."

"In light of the predicted intensity of the storm, I strongly urge all residents to take this storm seriously and to prepare accordingly," Fung said. "We have provided a quick checklist on our city website for our residents to use."

That checklist (attached to this story) provides a list of items that you should have at home and offers tips on how to make sure you're ready in case of an emergency.

Fung also reminded residents and business owners that they are responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of their properties once the storm has ended.

"Please consider children who have to walk to school and the elderly who walk for their health and errands," Fung said. "The City of Cranston will be aggressively monitoring and enforcing this situation."
