5 Reasonably Priced RI Homes with Water Access

Want a dock, mooring or easy water access but can't afford a million dollar home? Check out these five reasonably priced Rhode Island homes for sale.

Rhode Island real estate has plenty to offer for people looking for water access.

We're not talking about just views from a window or deck. Water access means either being able to walk to the beach, a private deck, mooring or deeded rights to a body of water.

Typically, that kind of access costs big bucks, especially when the house in question is more than a couple hundred square feet.

This week, we chose five homes for sale in Rhode Island that offer real water access for a reasonable price.

1. 118 Howland Ave., Middletown - $569,000. This handsome colonial has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and has nearly an acre of land surrounding it. Best of all, you're within footsteps of Third Beach as well as the Norman Bird Sanctuary. If you're looking for a private retreat abutting conserved land, this might be the ticket. Built in 2002, the house includes central air, a living room with fire place, master suite with private balcony and more.

2. 39 Blue Bill Way, Portsmouth - $289,000 - This would make a great summer house, especially if you have a boat since the house offers a mooring, which is being offered along with a small boat in the sale. Built in 1930, the house has a knockout price for being situated right on the water. New septic and appliances are included.

3. 505 Shore Acres Ave., North Kingstown - $499,900 - Not only do you get sunsets overlooking Wickford Harbor from this house, you also get a private mooring. This two-bedroom, 1-bathroom house offers 1,537 square feet of living space, hardwood floors, a fireplace, granite kitchen and more. Consider this house was on the market for nearly $700,000 in 2003.

4. 125 Hummocks Ave., Portsmouth - $789,000 - This renovated waterfront home sits on the west face of a bluff overlooking the water. With 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 1,860 square feet of living space, there's plenty of room for summer as well as year-round living. And best of all, you get a permanent dock and beach frontage, easily accessible with a stairway leading straight from the house.

5. 43 Flintstone Road, Narragansett - $469,000 - This is the quintessential Cape Cod cottage with water views, a nice deck and porch and a kayak launch right across the street. And when you're done frolicking, you can cool off and get the sand off in an outdoor shower. Three bedrooms, one-and-a-half bathrooms and 1,490 square feet of living space offer roominess on the outside with a seemingly small footprint on the outside.
