Sold! 8 Homes in Cranston Last Week

It's expected that home sales figures drop towards the end of summer as families settle into the new school year and vacation time gets burned up before autumn.

So it's no surprise that home sales in Cranston were a less frequent occurrence than earlier in the summer, when as many as 30 homes could change hands in a week.

The RE/MAX New England August monthly housing report shows home sales were down 59 percent for Rhode Island as a whole over last year. But the median home sale price rose 14.8 percent. 

"Year over year, home sales are still trending up while month over month activity in the New England market slowing down a bit," said Dan Breault, vice president and regional director of RE/MAX New England. 

Breault said agents are "incredibly busy due to low inventory levels, bidding wars and active buyers."
