Fox unveiled the latest addition to the State House's collection of art and sculpture, on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. outside the Senate Chamber on the second floor at the State House.
The new piece is a sculpture of Rhode Island's historical figure, Governor Thomas Dorr, an abolitionist and reformer who spoke out for the right to vote, and played a major role in the development of our state's constitution. He is best known for leading the Dorr Rebellion (1841--1842) and creating the People's Party.
State Laureate Patrick T. Conley, Mrs. Gail Cahalan-Conley and the nonprofit group the Heritage Harbor Corporation donated the sculpture to the State House collection.
