A Child's University Gets Big Honor from INC. Magazine

A local early childhood school with a new location in Cranston has recently earned a major distinction by INC. Magazine.

A Child's University, an accredited school on Park Avenue, received a 2013 Inc. Magazine Hire Power Award for creating jobs and moving the economy forward alongside just seven other Rhode Island companies like Cranston-based Alex and Ani, Swipley, G-Form, AmazingCharts.com and Embrace Home Loans.

The Rhode Island Small Business Journal reported that A Child's University was started in 2002 with a staff of three people and has grown into an industry leader with $2 to $5 million in revenue and nearly 100 employees.

Founder Lynsey Colgan told the RISBJ that the secret to success is  “Just don’t get stagnant in life – in anything.  Keep growing, keep pushing for better.  Keep making changes and adjustments and striving to give the best product or service you can possibly give."

Colgan was also named Rhode Island Small Business Journals' 2014 Entrepreneurial Women to Watch Award earlier this month and is a Rhode Island "40 Under Forty" winner.
