Chiefs Kick Off Season with Win Against Lincoln

The CLCF 4th grade Chiefs beat the Lincoln Lions 13-6.

The start of this year's football season began with an impressive win for the CLCF 4th grade Chiefs.

The team beat Lincoln 13-6 after a slow first quarter.

"It took them a good quarter to get going but once they got going we were like a freight train," said Head Coach Bryan Stetson. "Our defense was suffocating. And our offense made just enough plays to get ourselves a W!"

According to CLCF's Alfred Travieso, the game started off with a kick off fumble recovery by Andrew Travieso for Cranston, which looked promising for CLCF. Lincoln then drove the ball down the field and scored on Cranston CLCF on their first possession. But the kids did not flinch that is a great sign of things to come!

Cranston could have easily put our heads down in total disgust and not have played hard the rest of the game. But they did the total opposite.

The offense was lead by running backs Brennan Stetson, who had two rushing touchdowns, Preston Murphy who ran one in for the extra point and quarterbacks Michael Grenier and Christopher Carbone. The defense was lead by Raffaele Davis, Antonio Aceto, Brennan Stetson, Christopher Gomez and Andrew Travieso.

"So we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Tuesday night we get back to practice we work on the mistakes we made today and we get better from it. I cannot tell you how proud my coaches and I are of the players. They stood strong and responded to a little bit of adversity and I cannot tell you what that means to a football team.

"We are going to face adversity but it looks like we are the type of team who responds well to it rather then run from it. And that's exactly the type of game I was hoping for I could not ask for a better opening day game. Our kids were tested and we passed with flying colors," Stetson said.

Lincoln was one game from the Super Bowl last year, "so that's a seasoned team that knows how to win in the American youth Football League," Travieso said.
