CLCF 10U Routs Jamestown 11-1 in Second Round of Babe Ruth Tourney

The CLCF 10U team continues to dominate in the  2014 Cal Ripken Babe Ruth League State Tournament 

On Wednesday at Ricci field in Cranston, the 10U played Jamestown again got off to a great start after a 11-1 win over West Warwick last Monday night.

Tyler DiNezza got the start on the mound for CLCF and after walking the first batter, struck out the next three in a row.  After a scoreless top of the first inning, CLCF’s Matthew Barbarino lead off the bottom of the first with a base hit, Andrew Travieso, Alex Marot, Tyler DiNezza and Cole Carbone all proceeded to reach first base on walks.  RJ Fatorma reached first base on an error, Preston Kermen hit a RBI sacrifice fly to the outfield, Ruben Fernandez, Evan Dacey, Mike Panichas and Matthew Barbaribo again all proceeded to walk, Andrew Travieso hit a 2 RBI double, Tyler DiNezza and Cole Carbone both had RBI hits.  That was all CLCF needed after one inning of play, CLCF took an 11-0 lead over Jamestown, RI going into the top of the second inning and never looked back.

DiNezza continued to pitch the top of the second inning and after a Jamestown player reached first on an error, once again struck out the next three batters.  Preston Kermen came in to pitch the third and fourth innings for CLCF and struck out all six batters he faced.  In all DiNezza and Kermen combined for 12 strike outs in a mercy rule four inning game.

Cranston Mayor Allan Fung came by the field to wish the kids well and they were all happy and surprised to see him.
