Cranston's Castelli, Shnapir, End Skating Partnership

The duo skated together for eight years and won two U.S. Championships and helped win a bronze medal at the first-ever Olympic figure skating team event.

The figure skating duo of Simon Shnapir and Marissa Castelli — two time U.S. Champions who appeared in the Olympics together, finishing ninth — have ended their figure skating partnership.

Castelli, a Cranston native, said their pairing, which has skated together for eight years, led them on an amazing journey and she "wouldn't change it for anything," the Associated Press reported.

The pair finished ninth in the Olympics and helped lead the U.S. Figure Skating team to a bronze medal in the team event.

Both skaters are trying out new partners.
