Jr. Gulls Win Another Summer Tournament

The team, which includes a slew of players from Cranston, won five straight to take home their second tournament win of the summer.

The Newport Jr. Gulls 13yr olds won five straight games to win the the Mid Atlantic Showdown Baseball Tournament at Baseball heaven in Long Island, N.Y., that took place this past weekend . 

There are five members on the team from Cranston; Jake Procaccianti, Thomas Barbieri, Andrew Spirito,  Josh Stravato and Dan Baruch.

Other Team members from around the State include Cabot Maher, Carson Hart, Harrison Leonard, Matt Smaldone, Nick Amaral, Colin Scorpio, Max Prescott. Ross Audet, Nick Cehelsky, Coaches Ron Westmorland and Alex Greer.

The Team just finished honoring the head coach's son Ryan Westmorland (former Red Sox Player) and played at Vanderbilt in Tennessee two weeks ago in the Sand Lot 14U Wood Bat World Champions Tournament where they made it to the quarter finals. 

They also met and spoke to The College Baseball National Champions - Coach Corbin.

"What a lifetime experience!!" said Tom Barbieri. "Last week they won the In the Zone Wood Bat Classic and this week they play in their final summer tournament The Ocean State Invitational."
