URI Grad Berger Promoted at Hot 106

University of Rhode Island graduate and Cranston native Bekah Berger gets her own show on the Hot 106 network starting Monday.

A Cranston native and University of Rhode Island graduate is rising in the ranks of local radio.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 27 on Hot 106 – a Cumulus Providence radio station – is adding Bekah Berger to their personality line up.

Berger, a 2003 Cranston East High School graduate, as well as a 2007 University of Rhode Island graduate, has spent the last five years working for fellow Cumulus radio station News Talk 630 WPRO and 99.7 FM, where she was the Promotions & Marketing Director and hosted "This Week in Entertainment with Bekah Berger" (Saturdays 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.) and currently produces "The Gene Valicenti Show" (Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon).

Berger loves sharing her insights of pop culture and she does it on air and through social media.

Barbara Haynes, the market manager of HOT 106, said, “Bekah is the future of radio in Providence.  She is passionate about music, artists and celebrity news.  Bekah has everything the audience wants from their favorite radio station.   She is relatable as a Rhode Islander, she is passionate about her audience and she is an entertainer and local celebrity in social media who will continue to grow. “

Berger is also the author of "Rhody Radar," a weekly column that tracks Ocean State celebrity sightings and covers Rhode Island natives making national entertainment news.

"Between Cranston's own Olivia Culpo winning Miss USA, MTV and Johnston's own favorite bronzed boy Pauly D and celebrities enjoying a Newport summer, I rarely have a shortage to share," Berger said.

You can find Rhody Radar posted on both Hot 106 and 630wpro websites.  Bekah will also be heading the marketing and promotions department for Hot 106.

You can hear Bekah daily on Hot 106.3 beginning on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can follow her on Twitter @Bexstar27 and on Facebook.
