12 year old Dyslexic gives Statements in Support of Dyslexia Screening

Tonight's Cranston School Committee meeting was a moment to be proud.  To have my 12 yr old son speak out (reading his notes) and asking the Committee to please support H Bill 7829, which Rep. John Lombardi has submitted.  After the meeting, the Superintendent, Dr. Lundsten and SCM Trafficanti and McFarland came over to tell him what a wonderful job he did.   That gesture and acknowledgement of his efforts went far for a young man that has a lot of mixed feelings about how he must or can't learn - given the limited tools available in the public schools.

Another person from the audience whom was being recognized for her retirement was Mrs. Avedesian and she said it seems so simple to support that which would help teachers too. She said this is wonderful and should be supported. Ahhhh, nice to hear....now we just need the tangible support. I am thankful to the Committee for going beyond the recommended usual 3 minute time and affording Cole the necessary time to relay his message.
