Truck Nuts = Indecent Vehicle Exposure!

Big Truck Brass Hanging Balls - Genitalia Displayed Swaying are an example of Indecent Vehicle Exposure!

I first caught glimpse when my daughter was 6 1/2 while driving to the Chapel View intersection.  The truck next to us, and directly in front on our right were bright shiny brass balls swaying as we stopped for the light.  My daughter asked 'What is that mommy?"  My 8 year old boy said, "That's DISGUSTING....Ewwww!"  I cringed and begrudgingly explained those were boys private parts.

'Why do they show that when we are supposed to be private with that?", said daughter?

I said, 'I have no idea, but it's not appropriate...is it?"

I went home later and and researched.  As a mom with an interest in Sex Offender legislation and protection of children, I naturally was stunned to learn this is an acceptable public display.  Admittedly, I know that I totally judged the type of person that would expose children to see such repugnant images.  Let's think about it - would you want your Elementary Principal driving up in their truck with said Truck Balls hanging from his vehicle?  Would it be okay if I had a hanging super-sized Tampon or Vagina hanging?  Sounds pretty vulgar and absurd, but if this is freedom of expression, then I am 130% against this right.

First, some background on where it originated from.  Truck nuts, also known as Truck nutz, truck balls, BumperNuts, BumperBalls, CargoNads, Drive-thru Danglers, Trucksticles, HitchNuggets, Balls-on-a-truck, or, as they are known in the United Kingdom, Bumper Bollocks, are plastic/pvs accessories for pickup trucks and other vehicles which resemble a pair of dangling testicles. They appeared in 1998 in the United States, and were first sold on the internet in 1999. Truck nuts are usually hung for humor or amusement. They are attached under the rear bumper of the vehicle so they are visible from behind.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truck_nuts

Legislation to Block.  Several states have attempted to ban such indecent exposure.  There is even a case of a 65 year old getting a hefty fine for displaying them from her truck http://gawker.com/5825297/womans-obscene-truck-nutz-land-her-in-court.

Now, I realize that while I feel they are displays of indecent vehicle ornaments and cross the line over the little boy pissing sticker on the back of truck windows on a hydrant or something is an eye sore and possibly someone I deem with little class...but it's not revealing genitalia and indecent exposure so I deal with it.  However, this is so over the top and the saying 'give them an inch and they will take a mile' is accurate for Americans.

Call me a prude, but I find these to be offensive and obscene.  Why is it that a male or female cannot display their body parts but they can have plastic casting of them hanging from their vehicles??  A parent told me that at an adult novelty store you can clone body parts in chocolate for fun.  That's great in your house and not for public display.  This is really the same thing.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that this is tolerated in our society.  What's the rationale to you?
