Here's Gessman's testimonial on the PMC site:

It was last year during the PMC ride when my husband, son and I went to cheer on our cousins Amie and Greg White and team Pedal 2 the Mettle that I decided without a shadow of a doubt that I would ride in this year's ride.  I was blown away as we pulled into rest stop at Nickerson State Park in Brewster, MA, by the amount of supporters and volunteers that lined the driveway into the park.  There had to be hundreds of people with signs, banners, noisemakers and horns. But this was nothing compared to the overwhelming emotion that I felt as the riders began to enter the park.  Riders, some riding in honor of their friends or family members who had fought cancer and won, some riding in memory of friends and family members who lost their battle with cancer, some riding because they had defeated cancer, and some riding while fighting cancer. I am riding for all of these reasons.  I am riding in honor of my mother in law, Annette Gessman, who fought breast cancer and won.  I am riding in memory of my uncle, Robert Zinn; my cousin, Saul Weinstein; a life long family friend, Barbara Franklin and so many others whose lives have intersected mine in one way or another, and although they fought like warriors, ultimately lost the battle to cancer. I am riding in honor of and along side of the the toughest, strongest, most stubborn, most determined, most couragous, person with the most fight I have ever known, Amie White.   Amie will be riding in her 7th PMC ride, raising thousands of dollars for Dana Farber Cancer Institute all while fighting her own battle with cancer. Amie is a true inspiration and the driving force behind the reason I have chosen to commit myself to such an important cause.Your donations are greatly appreciated.  Thank you for taking the time to read my story and donating to this life changing cause, every dollar puts us "closer by the mile".
