Mon. Essentials: Have a Tomato, Get Health Insurance

Fundraiser: Be sure to stop by Sundaes today between 3 and 7 p.m. Twenty percent of all sales will go to support the Cranston High School West Westernettes and Falconettes. Click here for more details.

Tomato: If you love tomatoes, you should stop by Blue Skys Farm on Pippin Orchard Road on Tuesday. The farm held "Tomato Trials" and you'll get a chance to taste some of the farm's 100-plus varieties.

Healthcare: The Cranston Chamber of Commerce is hosting an critical meeting about the state's new health benefits exchange, HealthSource RI on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Attending would be a good idea for area employers who aren't sure what the new health exchange is all about.

School
: The first day of school is nearly a week away, so the district is getting into gear. This week, new teachers are going through orientation on Aug. 22 and 23. Students will be walking through the doors for the first time in exactly one week. Can you believe it?

Meets: The School Committee meets tonight at 5 p.m. at Hope Highlands Elementary School. The Board of Contracts and Purchasing meets Tuesday night at City Hall and the Site Plan Review Committee meets Wednesday Morning at 9 a.m.

Hot: Ok, so school is around the corner, so Mother Nature apparently has plans to torture area schoolchildren with hot summery weather all week. It will be sunny and in the upper 80s or lower 90s all week, according to the National Weather Service.
