Holidays: Christmas is around the corner and the city is buzzing with holiday-related events and activities.

On Thursday, Theatre 82 puts on another performance of "A Christmas Carol" Directed by Clara Weishahn, this ensemble-based production is a new take on the classic story that "focuses on family, storytelling, art, music and community."

For people who struggle to get through the holidays, especially those who've lost loved ones or experienced personal tragedy this time of year, or for people who don't have family and friends surrounding them on the holidays, the Blue Christmas Gathering on Friday is for you.

From the calendar event posted by Woodridge Congregational on Budlong Road: "This service is designed to recognize and acknowledge these feelings, to give us comfort and support and to think about how this holiday season could be different. This is a place and time when we can allow feelings of pain, loneliness, worry, sadness, experiences of dark memories, anxiety and fear to be lifted up in faith to The One who helps us bear the burdens and relieve our pain. We are hopeful that we find peace in this service and comfort in knowing that we are not alone."

On Friday, join Jimmy Devine and musicians and singers for traditional Irish music and song at the Irish Ceilidhe Club of Rhode Island. The pub opens at 7 p.m. and music begins at 8 p.m. The club is located at 50 America St.
