Monday Essentials: Tree, Menorah Lightings at City Hall

It's time to usher in the holiday season!

Tonight, the City rings in the holiday season with its annual tree lighting ceremony at City Hall. The fun starts at 6 p.m. with performances from the BASICS Glee Club and Ensemble and ensembles from both Cranston High Schools East and West. The lighting itself is at 6:30 p.m. and Santa arrives at 6:35 p.m. Parking is available behind City Hall.

Tomorrow, stop by City Hall at 5 p.m. for the city's annual menorah lighting ceremony, complete with arts, crafts, latkes and more.

Gaspee: The "Only in Rhode Island" film series at the Cranston Public Library concludes with a special screening of the 22-minute short film Aaron Briggs and the HMS Gaspee. The film discusses the true story of Brown University and the Colonial American slave trade in New England. After the screening director Andrew Stewart will discuss the film and answer questions from the audience. Show starts tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library.
