8 Things Worth Doing in RI This Weekend

1. Ignite! - A Night of Presentations — Sponsored by the Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, enjoy several speakers in this inspirational community forum in which each presenter has five minutes to share an idea or subject they're passionate about. 2. Bowled Over for SRIV — Southern RI Volunteers will be bowling for fun and to raise money for SRIV programs. SRIV assists seniors and disabled or home-bound people in Washington County by delivering Meals on Wheels, Jonnycake Center's Food Pantry deliveries and shopping assistance. 3. Mount Hope Farmers Market — Stop by the Mount Hope Farmers Market for local food and more. Located at historic Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, the market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Click here for more info.

4. Tom Wilson at the Comedy Connection — Tom Wilson is one of the top standup comedians in the country and he'll be at the Comedy Connection Saturday night at 8 p.m. He's appeared on The Tonight Show, Letterman, Regis, the Today Show and more. He's currently the star of a new one-hour comedy special for Image Entertainment, called "Bigger than You." $20, Comedy Connection in East Providence. 8 p.m. Click here for more info.

5. Eldredge Elementary Presents: Peter Pan Jr! — Enjoy local talent on stage at the East Greenwich High School Auditorium on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. Click here for more info.

6. NK Animal Shelter 5K — Head over to Ryan Park for the first Friends of North Kingstown Animal Shelter 5K. Registration on race day (Saturday) is $10. Proceeds benefit the friends. The event was organized by a North Kingstown High School student volunteer. Click here for more info.

7. Quonset Point 10 Miler and 5K — This year, Wickford Sailing Association (WSA) in collaboration with the Association of Migraine Disorders will be hosting its’ annual road race, the Quonset Point 10 miler and 5K, to benefit the sailing association. The non-profit WSA provides low cost, high quality sailing instruction 
to youth and adults from all surrounding communities during the summer 
months and provides the opportunity for the local community to experience sailing in Wickford. Sunday. 10 a.m. 181 Cripe St., North Kingstown. Click here for more info.

8. A Musical Performance by the Newport String Project — Enjoy champagne and dessert in front of a roaring fire in Mabel's Studio at the Norman Bird Sanctuary, to the sound of live chamber music performed by Project Co-Directors EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks and Ealain McMullin, and guest musician Paul Cienniwa. Proceeds from this event help support the missions of the Norman Bird Sanctuary and the Newport String Project. Seating is limited. Saturday, 7:30 p.m. 583 Third Beach, Middletown.
