Greek Food Festival, Arts on Main and 22 Other RI Happenings this Weekend

Springlike weather is upon us, which means lots to do around Rhode Island this weekend.

SATURDAY 


East Greenwich Arts on Main - It's the 13th annual Arts on Main Street drawing event. At the same time, there will be plenty of action on Main Street from the business community as a stroll is planned. Click here for more details.

Greek Food Fair - An annual tradition in Cranston, the 2014 Greek Food Fair starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Church of the Annunciation at 175 Oaklawn Ave. Sample some of the best Greek food and pastry around. Admission and parking are free. Click here for more info.

8th Annual Touch a Truck- East Providence. More than 30 police, fire, DPW, ambulance and other vehicles will be on hand for this free event sponsored by the East Providence Area chamber of commerce. Click here for more info.

Bristol Sidewalk Sales: Swing through downtown Bristol where the merchants are at it again with May sidewalks sales. The weather should be great, so stop by for savings and a chance to support the local small business community. Click here for more information.

Mornings in the Vegetable Garden - Blithewold Mansion in Bristol is the place to be for a morning tour of the vegetable garden by Assistant Grounds Manager Dan Christina. Learn about all sorts of gardening topics. Free for members, $11 for nonmembers. Click here for more info.

Spring Craft Fair - The seventh annual Spring Craft Fair Event is being held at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth starting at 10 a.m. You'll find a great Mother's Day gift here. Free admission and parking. Hosted by Cherish the Moments. More info is here.

Golden to Gilded Walking Tour - History buffs might want to check this out. Discover the transformation of the City by the Sea and its people on this tour that starts from the Brick Market Museum and lasts about 75 minutes. Reservations are recommended. Click here for the info.

Chester Barrows Spring Carnival: An exciting event, sponsored by Chester Barrows Parent-Teachers group, returns to Edgewood this spring. Park View Middle school will host Barrows' second annual Spring Carnival on Saturday, May 3, 2014, 11am-2pm. More info is HERE.

Indoor/Outdoor Yard Sale - Looking for yard sale stuff? Stop by Church of the Transfiguration at 1665 Broad Street in Cranston on Saturday. Vendor and church tables, racks of clothes, a bake sale and more. Proceeds benefit the Edgewood/Pawtuxet Food Closet. More info.

English Country Dance - The South Kingstown Land Trust Barn offers a English Country Dance on Saturday night. Full instruction by dance leader Martha Griffin with live music will have you exercising and having fun. Click here for more info.

Open for the Season at South County Museum - If you haven't been to the South County Museum in a while, or ever, now is the time to stop by. It opens for the season this weekend and the opening exhibit includes more than 200 Kodak cameras dating back to 1895. More info is here.

Narragansett Eco Depot - Here's your chance safely and legally get rid of household and hazardous waste. Be at the South Pavilion on Boston Neck Road after 8 a.m. More info.

An Evening at the Derby - Please join the East Greenwich Education Foundation for An Evening at the Derby.  The event will help fund the foundation so that it can continue on its mission to promote excellence in public education by providing grants to teachers to fund creative, innovative and sustainable initiatives in the classroom. More info is here.

American Legion Post 15 Pancake Breakfast - Annual fundraiser goes to Post 15 building improvements. Click here for more info.

North Kingstown Community Chorus Spring Concert: A can't miss event. Described as "setting a record this year" with Broadway hits, movie scores and much more. Chorus accompanied by a six piece band and young dancers from the Rhode Island Ballet Theatre. Event is Saturday and Sunday. Click here for more info.

North Kingstown Environmental Fair - The NK Groundwater Committee and the NK Water Department are hosting the NK Environmental Fair at the NK Community Center on May 3rd from 10:00am to 2:30pm.  Fair offering sign-up tours of NK wind turbine,a look at likely water height as sea level rises, hands on wind turbine energy experiments, Rain Barrel Decorating Contes, Kool Kid Passport fun and much more Click here for more.

Berklee World Strings at the Towers - The renowned Berklee World Strings, led by Grammy winner cellist Eugene Friesen will be at the Towers of Narragansett for an evening of jazz, bluegrass and world music. Details here.
