The Park Theatre — Rhode Island Center for Performing Arts

The Park Theater was built in 1924 and has been an important city landmark ever since.
After shutting down in 2002, the theater reopened in 2009 after a $10 million renovation. Anyone who grew up in Cranston has memories of the theater, including Mayor Allan Fung, who saw Star Wars — the first film he ever saw in a theater — when he was 10-years-old. The theater is now a state-of-the-art multi-purpose performing arts center that features films, comedy acts, concerts and theatrical performances. It can also be booked for private and corporate events and is a frequent destination for weddings, fundraisers, meetings and civic events.
