Common sense??? I'll make it easy to understand. LEAVE THE DOG HOME!!!!!!! Enough said!!!
morlamweb July 12, 2014 at 03:04 pm
I agree, Stephanie! "Common" sense should be to leave your dog at home. What Cai andRead More Michael don't seem to get is that temperatures in a parked car get very hot very quickly, particularly in the hot summer sun. Even four minutes in the shade with the windows open can make it uncomfortably hot in the car. Believe me, if I see a dog trapped in a hot car, I WILL report it. Responsible dog owners do NOT leave their "beloved" dogs in the car!
Samantha Marley August July 14, 2014 at 01:01 pm
My car doesn't have AC. If I can drive around for hours without getting too hot, or sit in theRead More direct sunlight with the windows open and not overheat, I think a dog can survive three minutes with ice water and windows down.

Unless they enforce the law it doesn't matter what the penalty is!

Honestly, in 1989 I was caught in Portsmouth throwing a soda can out of my car, coming around theRead More bend at the overlook near Kaiser Aluminum. I had to go to court and paid a $50.00 fine and it is still on my record. On the very rare occasion I have some interaction with law enforcement it is VERY embarrassing, now that I am older and know better. EVERY police officer WILL enforce that law IF the offence is observed. BELIEVE IT......

It's now illegal in Rhode Island to leave a dog in a sweltering vehicle. File photo.
MillicentBroderick July 8, 2014 at 09:47 pm
There are a fair number of people who are genuinely unaware of the danger, there are people who doRead More not like to be told how to run their lives and that extends to the creature in the car. I have on 4 occasions nicely and politely informed a person that it would be harmful to their dog to leave it in the car, as the dog had been. I have never had anyone say thank you I did not realize. I have been threatened with violence and basically run off. So what does that say. That is why it needs to be a law..so there is no "discussion". awful.
Samantha Marley August July 14, 2014 at 12:35 pm
If it's illegal to leave pets outside, we should be able to take them into the stores with us. MyRead More dog is an adorable long-haired Chihuahua. Everyone on earth wants to pet him and hug him, and for that reason I can't leave him outside a car -- he's very nervous and I wouldn't put it past him to nip or bite someone who tries to pet him. He's safer in the car. I also leave all the windows open, leave him loosely tied to the seat to leave him enough room to move around, and leave water with ice in it for him. This is all for a two second run into the store, literally never more than three minutes. I just think it all comes down to common sense. Don't leave anything in the car with all the windows up. Roll them down or put on the AC. However, I don't think any random person should be able to smash in my windows that are already mostly rolled down to get to a dog who is perfectly fine hah. This just seems sorta ridiculous. Obviously, don't hurt animals. I am actually huge on animal rights. This just seems excessive.
Kellie Jackson July 21, 2014 at 02:38 pm
Samantha, no. Just no. You shouldn't be allowed to bring your pets into stores. If you have to goRead More shopping, leave your pets at HOME. They don't belong in stores, making messes that most customers leave for the associates to clean up. If it's a service animal, that's fine. No other exceptions...

The Editor should remove the negativity here! RIP little guy!

Once again, Cranston proves what a low life, basement dwelling, knuckle dragging, fry dropping,Read More mouth breathing, momma's boy waste of oxygen he his. Who cares about the family situation? A young child died tragically. Who cares that the family comes and goes all hours if the night. Or that they are on public assistance. A life was lost too soon and that's all that should matter. On another note, Cranston. I find it hard to believe you have a friend. Are you sure it wasn't your mommy screaming down to the basement about that family?

DEM teaches hunting education, has an archery range for proficiency testing, has Women's archeryRead More field day, etc. Hunting is essentially the only tool that DEM has to manage populations of game animals, and, due to population density, there are few places to hunt with a firearm.

Im sure if they posted that the bows were stolen, then people would have set up the seller and theRead More police. Seeing that they kept it quiet until now, its going to be harder to find them. Secrecy is not good.

@Leeza I so agree. And what is the difference between Illegals collecting SSI SNAP & workingRead More full time. You need an army of people to investigate them! Just saying
Vincent J Siravo Jr. June 24, 2014 at 12:39 pm
WOW! Although I think the court actions have a lot to do with giving another state job to someone;Read More it is refreshing to see that something was accomplished (for a change). I have been a victim of Workers Comp Fraud twice in the past year. "Restitution" does not provide any penalties breaking the law. Until there is a risk to the employee, employer, AND THE LAWYERS (have you noticed all the billboards on Rt 95?) who bring shady cases to court, workers comp laws will continue to be broken at will. Ridiculous cases such as the one mentioned are only a very small part of the problem. The biggest problem is phony claims for "injuries". Dr Summeroff gets busy every spring with people anxious to beat the system. Anyone who is truly injured must be protected, but there are many more who use a "sore shoulder" or "stiff neck" to get time off with pay. We need to change our opinion about "victimless" crimes. WE ARE THE VICTIMS HERE.

I'm not sure why you feel compelled, but let me un-muddy the waters. He was arraigned in October ofRead More '09 for the murder, the case was then submitted to a grand jury and he was formally charged in April of 2010. A series of continuances, asked for by HIS attorney, led to 27 pre-trial conferences, spread out of over the next two years. The trial was started in June of 2012, by an order of the court, despite protests by defense for "more time". As you know, by now, the steps taken by Cranston Police went under scrutiny by both the Superior Court presiding Judge and then the State Supreme Court. It seems to me that you can not delay the trial on your own accord, and then plead a violation of the 6th Amendment. This child killer shall continue on with his trial, eventual conviction and sentencing.

Total BS. I live in Woosocket. We are right next to the border of Massachusetts. We have gunshotsRead More every day. Accidents 5/8 times a day. I walk over the border and everything is much cheaper. Let alone I have never been ripped of in MA. Of course Ri has the 2nd in "Fatal Occupational Injuries per Total Employees" as their is no work... As for sec offenders. We have 6(six) on our block alone and they allow children to live on this block knowing 2 of them wewre convicted pedophiles. These statistics are falsified. I would like to know the source of data for this. To me it appears that someone paid for these rankings to help drive more people to RI. Shame
