Police: Stone Hill Stabbing Victim was 15, Claims Attack was Random

The juvenile suffered a non-life-threatening injury and said he did not know his attacker.

A 15-year-old Cranston boy is recovering from a stab wound to the abdomen after he was allegedly attacked behind Stone Hill School on Village Avenue last night.

Police said the victim was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Police got a 911 call at 9:59 p.m. and found the victim in front of the school along with the weapon. The victim told police he was out for a walk near the front of the school when the suspect came up from behind, grabbed his shoulder to pull him around and stabbed him in the left side of the abdomen.

The weapon used in the stabbing has been seized, said Cranston Police Major Robert W. Ryan.

The victim said he didn't know his attacker and the suspect was described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood drawn to obscure the face, red shorts, white athletic socks and winter gloves.

Evidence at the scene was collected by members of the Cranston Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and the investigation is ongoing.
