Reckless Driver Leads Police to ACI to "Finish Her Book"

One woman wanted to go back to jail, so she drove there erratically and got a reckless driving charge.

A Johnston woman's erratic driving landed her a stay at the Adult Correctional Institutions -- the same place she led Cranston Police Sgt. Sean Parker as she drove with her hazards flashing, beeping her horn and screaming that she needed to go back to jail to finish a book.

According to police, Jessica Grundy, 30, of 29 Pleasant View Ave. in Johnston, was seen by Parker as she drove through a red light on Sockanosset Cross Road with her hazards flashing and horn beeping.

Grundy reportedly refused to pull over and drove erratically, her speed varying between 5 and 30 mph as she made her way onto Pontiac Avenue and eventually into the parking lot in front of the medium security building at the ACI.

Grundy then screamed at Parker and continued to honk the horn. She had to be removed from the vehicle after ignoring Parker's requests for her to step out of the vehicle.

During her arrest for reckless driving and eluding police, Grundy reportedly said that she was trying to get back into the ACI to "save Jesus and finish reading my book."

Grundy did not appear to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, Parker noted in his police report, but she did "yell random statements at me about various topics."

Grundy was arraigned before a justice of the peace and bail was set at $5,000 with surety. In the end, she was unable to make bail and was remanded to the ACI.
